A room for what the songs surface.

Takras makes songs about feelings most of us push down. This is the room you come to after one of those songs has done its work in you. Not therapy, not a tradition: language for what you might not have words for yet, and an invitation to feel it long enough to find your way through.

Eleven new songs, and a second voice

On July 1 the catalog nearly doubled. Eleven songs arrived at once, and for the first time she answers back: several of them are duets, and one is hers alone. The essay that sits underneath them is about what changes when a vow stops being made in one direction.

How to use this site

Each essay is a short read about an emotional territory the music lives in. You can wander through them in any order. Most of them name a song or two as anchors at the bottom; you can go from the writing to the music and back without leaving the room.

The site does not represent a faith. The songs are allowed to use declarative language when a song calls for it. The site's own voice stays on the language of feeling and being human. That distinction is held on purpose.
